Early Morning ..geared up for Zero Point & yumthang......

Early morning we got ready for trip zero point.
It was a nice sunny morning. The sunlight was making all of us very comfortable. The zero point is also called yumsemdong here. This is called Zero point because after this point there is no road.It took approx 3-4 hr to reach zero point from Lachung. As always the whole path is covered with heavenly scenic beauty. When we reached zero point we felt little bit of uneasy ness due oxygen shortage as it is at a height of 15,500 ft approx. The Oxygen shortage was not as huge as of gurdongmar lake.
There is a little deserted bridge on zero point that looked so cute ,that it can't be described in words,so se its pic.....
At zero point in july you can see river flowing with sub zero temperature water in it,this can give u chilling refreshness. Then after some time we packed of for Yumthang valley.

Evening Wlk at Lachung

After Reaching Lachung 1 must do a morning or Evening walk here to see the real beauty of Lachung. As we did ,the Lachung is a small but very beautiful place. We met with a nmber of local sikkim people ,infact most of people here are tibetan refugees .
The Tishta river flows adjacent to the Lachung. One must choose a hotel through which beautiful scenic view can be seen.So at night we stayed in Lachung as tomorrow we have to go to Yumthang & Zero Point.

Unconsciousness at Gurdongmar lake

As the Gurdongmar lake is at very height (17,500 ft),then shortage of oxygen was natural. Most of us were gaining unconsciouness due to shortage of O2.Even our driver who was sherpa, Fainted. One must take deep breaths so that sufficient oxygen reaches the brain to avoid fainting.Except my father all were either fainting or vomitting.I first ever experienced shortage of oxygen. But I fully enjoyed the beauty of the divine lake.
Then we got back into the the car & reached Rabom. Then we rested there for some time .All of us were sick of mountainsickness.......
At 4 p.m we left out for Lachung.....

Early Morning....Geared up for World's Highest Latitude lake "Gurdongmar Lake"

After staying in Local's house at night , the drver told that we have to leave early in morning for the "Gurdongmar Lake",i.e about 4:45 a.m.We all woke up at 4:00 am.Then started the series of wonderful ,fresh scenes of mountain that were visible through the car window.Th view in which the sunlight parly covers the mountains laide with snow looks so awesome, that it can.t be expressed in words.

The road was not well built, even that can't be called roads. But the beauty of real Himalyas around me was just like heaven. There is River which is seen while going towards Gurdongmar lake which is said to be cursed as some foreigner drank Beer around it and which caused flood to the local people & which killed many peoples. Mountains laden with snow every where.....

After some time we reached Thangu.A very cool & nice place at around 14000ft.We had our tea at thangu( again at local people's house). There are around 10-15 houses at Thangu. At Thangu my mother fainted,& started vomitting lost her consciousness due to lack of oxygen.

Then resumed our trip to the Lake.We saw many yalks in the distance between Thangu & The LAke.Then after some time we reached the Indian army base station which is checkpost for the persons who are going to visit the Divine Gurdongmar Lake. The army personnel first don;t allowed us to go further but since 1 of the high rank officer belonged to our
native village he allowed us to go further. There was situated world's Highest Cafeteria ,since it belonged to Indian army hence it's photo I can disclose here. Then finally we reached Gurdongmar Lake. The world's HIGHEST,Pretiest, most wonderful lake..
The lake is surrounded by the ice laden mountains. The water is so pure that I havn't seen such a crystal clear lake in my life..
